The Jersey Shore is a must-go-to destination for many throughout the Garden State, New York, Pennsylvania, and beyond. Beach lovers would typically have already made more than a trip or two by now, and many others would be planning for a Memorial Day weekend down the Shore.

But this year, due to the coronavirus outbreak, getting some beach time in may prove to be a bit more challenging. Many of New Jersey's beaches have been closed. Others are only open for passive recreation like walking and jogging — not sitting and sunbathing — or they're being patrolled to ensure beach-goers adhere to social distancing requirements. That's left some people feeling like they've been knocked down by a flyaway beach umbrella.

While these photos won't allow you to breathe in the salt air, hear the ocean waves, or feel the sand between your toes, you can view the beach in a way you don't normally see it — in black and white.
